MURFREESBORO, NC – Maria Theodorakis Evans, age 60, of Meherrin Lane, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family after a strong hard fight against cancer.

A native of Hertford County, Maria was born on July 13, 1959 to Konstantious “Gus” and Anastasia “Susy” Boutsouka Theodorakis in Ahoskie. Maria was a loving wife, mother, YiaYia, sister, and friend. She was always taking care of others, always kept things organized, and was the problem solver in the family. She cherished her family, especially her granddaughter. Maria enjoyed cooking, listening to music, and working in her flowers. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

Maria was preceded in death by her father, Konstantious “Gus” Theodorakis.

Maria is survived by her loving husband, Dale; daughter, Amber Nieradka and husband Ryan of Raleigh, NC; son, Timothy Evans and wife Allie of Murfreesboro; special granddaughter, Brynn Nieradka; brother, Tim and wife Lisa Theodorakis of Newark, DE; sister, Rita Erickson and husband David of Garner, NC; and special uncle, Billy Theodorakis of Murfreesboro.

Due to circumstances with COVID-19 restrictions, there will be a private family celebration of life graveside service on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Riverside Cemetery, Murfreesboro, NC, with Rev. John Porter officiating. There will be a celebration of life memorial service scheduled at a later time to celebrate Ms. Maria’s life with friends.
