MURFREESBORO – Murfreesboro police over the weekend arrested six men in two separate, drug-related incidents.

Saturday at 11:08 p.m., according to Murfreesboro Police Chief Darrell Rowe, officers noticed suspicious activity in the parking lot of the Murfreesboro Inn and confronted Reginald R. Davis, 38, and Joseph Davis, 39, both of Eustis, Fla. A search of the rooms of the two men and of the men themselves revealed, Rowe said, “what is believed to be cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.”

Reginald Davis was charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia, placed under $10,000 cash bond and transported to the Hertford County Jail, the police chief said.

Joseph Davis was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, intent to sell and deliver cocaine and maintaining a dwelling with the intent to sell cocaine. He was placed under a $50,000 cash bond and transported to the Hertford County Jail, according to Rowe.

The police chief commended Murfreesboro Police Officer William Barmer, assisted by numerous other of the department’s officers, for the arrest.

“This was good heads up police work to get these gentlemen off the street and stop them selling this poison,” Rowe said.

On Sunday at 1:10 p.m., Rowe said Barmer and Officer Bryant Cooke received a call for assistance in a medical emergency at the Murfree Mobile Home Park.

“Once there, they found six people in a trailer,” Rowe said, “two who had apparently overdosed on illegal narcotics. Emergency medical services and other officers of this agency were called. Once they were there and the two overdose subjects were transported, the residence was searched.”

That search resulted in the arrest of four men:

Ronald J. Roberts, 44, who listed a Main Street address in Murfreesboro, was arrested for possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed on a $12,000 secured bond and transported to the Hertford County Jail.

Cody Mitchell, 18, of Lewiston/Woodville, was arrested on the same charges, placed on a $12,000 secured bond and transported to the Hertford County Jail.

Charles N. Threatt, 44, of Rich Square, was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia, placed on an $11,000 secured bond and transported to the Hertford County Jail.

Michael R. Morris, 33, of Aulander, was arrested on charges of possession of cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He, too, was placed under an $11,000 bond and transported.

Rowe said he anticipates that the two people who were transported to the hospital, one man and one woman, “may face illegal narcotics charges also. Investigation has shown their medical emergency was caused by heroin overdose.”

Rowe said the responding officers are to be praised for their quick action in getting help to the two individuals who were hospitalized. He thanked the Hertford County Emergency Medical Services personnel who responded quickly.
