Ahoskie man slain

ELIZABETH CITY – An Ahoskie man is dead, the victim of shooting that took place here in the early morning hours of Thursday, Nov. 1.

According to information from the Elizabeth City Police Department, they received a call shortly after 6 a.m. in reference to a man that had suffered a gunshot wound to his chest. That victim was identified by the Elizabeth City Police as 34-year-old Rocky L. Bailey Jr. of Ahoskie

Bailey was initially taken by ambulance to Sentara Albemarle Hospital in Elizabeth City. From there he was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital where he later died.

Yesterday (Tuesday), a spokesperson with the Elizabeth City Police Department told the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald that there is no new information to release regarding the deadly shooting. He added that the case remains as β€œan active investigation.”

Meanwhile, funeral services for Bailey are scheduled for 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Mt. Sinai Church of God in Murfreesboro.
