GATESVILLE, NC – Eric Carlton Nickens, Sr. of Gatesville, NC went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at his residence.
A native of Suffolk, VA he was born on December 2, 1946 to the late Donval Nickens and Martha Hall Nickens.
Carlton, as he was called by many, was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He retired from Newport News Shipyard as an electrician.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Sandra; sons, Trevor Gatling (Sarah Newcomer, fiancee) and Eric C. Nickens “C.J.”; aunt, Wilhelmina N. Savage (Audubon, PA); nieces, Natasha J. Wilson, Kimberly Gerhold, Tammie Rosario, and Venita Wright; nephews, Christopher D. Jones, Theodore Butler (Keisha), and Wildon C. Garrett; mother-in-law, Imogene “Jean” Freeman; sister-in-law, Cynthia F. Calloway (Billy); three granddaughters, Tayla, Jasmine, and Stephanie; many cousins, other nieces and nephews; loving relatives and friends.
With thankful hearts the family appreciates all that you have done.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, September 7, 2018 at New Hope Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at New Hope Baptist Church.
