The fourth in the Downtown Summer Sounds concert series sponsored jointly by the Town of Murfreesboro and the Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce will feature Dyversity.

The third concert in the series featured the Sensational Harmonizing Jubilee and Captured Hearts, two gospel groups.

The second was blue grass and country music performed by the Shiloh Grass Band.

The series opened with a performance by the Naval Fleet Jazz Band.

Like the previous performances in the series, Dyversity will perform on the lawn in front of the Roberts Vaughan Village Center, 116 East Main Street in Murfreesboro, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Dyversity, as the band’s name implies, plays everything from classic and modern rock to country to rap or hip hop.

The band was formed in March of 2006, playing clubs from Suffolk to Atlantic Beach.

“We cover a variety of different music to try and please everyone that comes out to hear us, while also trying not to be the average band you’ve heard before. We pride ourselves on being somewhat different,” said a band spokesman.

The concert is free to the public. Those attending are urged to bring lawn chairs or picnic blankets. The concert will conclude at 8 p.m.

Remaining elements of the concert series will include:

Chowan and Murfreesboro Talent Night on Aug. 27; and

The Chowan Faculty Gala Recital on Sept. 10.

With the exception of the Chowan Faculty Gala Recital, all concerts will be on the lawn of the Roberts Vaughan Village Center.

That final event will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Turner Auditorium on the Chowan University Campus.
