PLEASANT HILL – A high-speed pursuit of a 16-year-old driver near here Sunday shortly before midnight ended with an arrest.

According to information from Captain Patrick Jacobs of the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office, LaCrysta Gary of Margarettsville was charged with felony flee to elude arrest, speeding, careless and reckless driving, and failure to yield for blue lights and siren.

She was held in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond and is scheduled to make her first appearance on Thursday in Northampton County Criminal District Court.

Jacobs said the incident began at around 11:45 p.m. when Northampton Deputy A. Young responded to Lucky Mikes Casino in Garysburg to investigate a domestic violence dispute. That incident involved a verbal dispute in the parking lot of that business, Jacobs noted.

At that time, Gary was ordered by law enforcement not to operate a vehicle. However, she allegedly ignored that command and got behind the wheel of a 2013 Kia passenger car and fled the premises on US 301 North.

Jacobs said that vehicle was not registered to Gary.

As Deputy Young was attempting to perform a traffic stop, Gary refused to yield, increasing the speed of her vehicle in excess of 120 mph. She finally pulled over in the business parking lot of NC/VA Stateline Lottery.

The vehicle was seized and impounded for the felony flee to elude arrest charge, Jacobs said.

“We are thankful that no one was hurt in this incident and the subject was apprehended with no further incident,” said Northampton County Sheriff Jack Smith. “Great job by Deputy Young for her professionalism in handling this situation.”
