AULANDER, NC – Abner Lee Cooke, age 42, passed away suddenly on April 4, 2017 at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.

Mr. Cooke was born on June 26, 1974 to Gurnie Cooke and Louise Cullipher Cooke in Ahoskie, NC. Abner has always worked in the grocery business. He enjoyed watching all types of sports, especially a true fan of the NC State Wolfpack and the Dallas Cowboys. Abner was a loving son and husband. He will be deeply missed by all those that knew him.

Mr. Cooke was preceded in death by his father.

Besides his mother, Abner is survived by his wife Diana, daughter, Katherine Renee Greer of Illinois; along with several aunts and uncles.

The family received friends on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at 2:00 pm at the Job Cemetery, Aulander, NC.
