George O. Brown

MURFREESBORO – George O. Brown, 87, died Sunday, February 28, 2016 in Clairborne, Tennessee. A native of Hobgood, North Carolina, he had been preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mary Dare Brown; parents, Raymond and Mary Brown; brother, Johnny Brown; and two sisters, Catherine Brown Davenport and Molly Ann Scott.

Mr. Brown retired from the Flowers Baking Company after working with them for 39 years and had been a familiar sight to many while in his “bread truck” Mr. Brown was a Veteran of the Korean War while serving in the United States Army and was a member of American Legion Post 111 in Rich Square. Also, he was a member of Ashley’s Grove Baptist Church. An avid fisherman, he was a true family man who adored spending time with his grandsons.

Survivors include one daughter, Mamie Brown Lassiter and her husband, Bobby, of New Tazewell, TN; grandsons, Chad Lassiter, Zach Lassiter, and Seth Lassiter; and one brother, Wayne Brown and his wife, Shirley of Murfreesboro.

The family received friends at Bridgers Funeral Home, Inc. in Conway on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 and a Funeral Service for Mr. Brown will be held Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in Ashley’s Grove Baptist Church with Rev. David Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Murfreesboro.
