AULANDER – James Willie “Nick” Vaughan, age 78 of Aulander, passed away January 30, 2014 at his home.

Nick was born January 29, 1936 in Northampton County, North Carolina, the son of the late Joseph Vaughan and Ruth Hodges Vaughan. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Lottie Lucelle Ward Vaughan, and six brothers and six sisters.

James “Nick” worked many years as a jack of all trades and mastered many of them. He was a handyman of any kind of construction.

Survivors include his companion of 19 years, Nettie Elizabeth Rowe of Aulander; one son, Kenneth W. Vaughan (Linda) of Aulander; and left to cherish his memory are also numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Monday, February 3, 2014 at Job Cemetery in Aulander, NC at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev. Taylor Latham and the Rev. Ron Carr officiating.

The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Aulander prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. After the visitation we will then proceed from the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. in funeral procession to Job Cemetery for the graveside service to celebrate the life of James “Nick” Vaughan.
