AHOSKIE – Phyllis Godwin Frymier, age 61, died Monday, March 11, 2013 at her home.

Mrs. Frymier was born in Hertford County on June 4, 1951, a daughter of the late Vera Harrell and Paul Mitchell Godwin, Sr.  She was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church.

Phyllis worked with the Roanoke Chowan News Herald for over 25 years and later served as Executive Director of the Ahoskie Chamber of Commerce until her retirement.  She, with her late husband, Gary Dean Frymier, also owned and operated Ahoskie Floral Gardens.

Left to cherish her memory are her brothers, Paul M. Godwin, Jr. and wife, Nancy, and Donald W. Godwin and wife, Thelma, all of Ahoskie.

A celebration of life service will be conducted on Thursday, March 14, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service in Ahoskie with the Rev. Greg Hurdle officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13.  Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
