STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. – Fred Owen Sumner, age 74 of Stone Mountain, GA, passed away October 7, 2010.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Sumner; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and David Boldt of Winter Springs, FL; daughter, Ellen Sumner of Duluth, GA; sister, Ruth Boone of Pendleton, NC; brothers, Livingston Sumner of Como, NC and John Wallace Sumner and his wife, Josephine Sumner, of Franklin, VA; grandchildren, Jason Boldt and Brandon Boldt; and a host of extended family members.

Mr. Sumner was a graduate of Southern Tech with a degree in Gas Fuel Technology.  After graduation, Fred worked for numerous fuel companies and was a highly accomplished sales engineer.

He was an avid gardener, animal lover and sports fan.  He was a strong man with a gentle heart, a loving husband, father, Papa, and one who never met a stranger.  He truly loved the Lord and is rejoicing in heaven.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 15, 2010 at Parkview Church, Lilburn GA, with Rev. Ron Clegg officiating.  The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
