William Elbert Riddick, 64, a native of Gates County, died September 15, 2008 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, Va.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. John AME Zion Church, Sunbury, by the Rev. Samuel L. Buck Jr. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites. Stallings Funeral Chapel, Gatesville, is in charge.
Riddick was a member of St. John AME Zion Church and retired from the shipyard. He was a veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Perry Riddick of the home; one daughter, Caroline Riddick-Taylor of Sunbury; three sons, Rev. Joseph Perry of Sunbury, William Riddick Jr. and Patrick Riddick, both of Elizabeth City; two sisters, Minnie Brown of Brooklyn, NY and Dorothy Harper of Jamica; and 12 grandchildren.
