Mr. James Garfield Cowan, passed away Monday, September 15, 2008 in Aulander.
Cowan was employed with Amerigas Propane for 26 years. He was a member of Conoconary Baptist Church, Aulander, NC, the male chorus and the adult choir.
Survivors include his wife, Freda Cowan of Aulander, NC; two children, Derrick and Kashena Cowan, both of Greensboro, NC; five sisters, Novella Ruth James of Hampton, VA, Mary Jones, Doris Mitchell and Dorothy Godley, all of Far Rockaway, NY, Lorrain Askew of Alexandria, VA; three brothers, Earnest Cowan of Hollis Queens, NY, Raymond Cowan of Far Rockaway, NY and Willie Cowan of Hampton, VA; and two grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Conoconary Baptist Church, Aulander, NC, by the Rev. Robert Horton. Burial will be in the Cowan Family Cemetery, Lewiston, NC. A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church. Reynolds Funeral Home, Inc., Ahoskie, is in charge of the arrangements.
