Leslie Carter Evans, 79, a native of Gates County, died September 19, 2008.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Parr Funeral Home and Crematory, Suffolk, by the Rev. Jonathan Palmer. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 7-8 p.m. for visitation and at other times at 4868 Godwin Boulevard, Suffolk. Evans retired after 25 years as produce manager at Belo’s Supermarket. He was a 50 year member of Suffolk Masonic Lodge, #30, Mt. Nebo Royal Arch Chapter; Khedive Shriners; Suffolk Shrine’s Club Sinai #18 of the Order of the Eastern Star where he served 18 times as Worthy Patron. He was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church.
Survivors include a son, Thomas C. Evans of Suffolk; two sisters, Juliett E. Williams of Winton and Gloria E. Nichols of Ahoskie; two brothers, Clinton Evans of Murfreesboro and Ronald Evans of Siler City; and a stepgranddaughter.
