Grady Lee Flowers, 92, of the 300 block of Hillside Street, died Wednesday, January, 28, 2009 at Roanoke Chowan Hospital.
Mr. Flowers was born in Pamlico County, a son of the late Charlie C. and Ether Mason Flowers. He was the widower of Lucille Leach Flowers.
Mr. Flowers was a member of Murfreesboro United Methodist Church and was retired from Hertford County Soil Conservation Service. He was also retired from the North Carolina National Guard after almost 30 years, serving in many different units across the state and was a proud member of the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Left to cherish his memory is his son, Gene Flowers and his wife, Mary Etta of Murfreesboro; a sister, Annie Goodwin of Hobucken, NC; a granddaughter, Andrea F. and husband, Jeffrey S. Calvert and their daughter, Macie, of Clayton, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration service of Mr. Flowers’ life was conducted on Friday, January 30, 2009, at Murfreesboro United Methodist Church with the Rev. Arthur Warren officiating. A private, family only, burial followed in Riverside Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of Gene and Mary Etta Flowers, 107 Forest Circle, Murfreesboro, NC.
