Deacon Gerald Edward Tyree, 80, of Winton died Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Roanoke Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.
He was a native of McDowell County, West Virginia and a member of New Ahoskie Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and on the Men’s Club. He was also a member of Twelve Sportsman Club. Gerald was a former member of I.B.P.O.E. of W.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel P. Tyree of the home; one son, Dabney Tyree of Raleigh; one brother, John B. Tyree of Spring Lake, NC; one sister, Evelyn Tyree of Warner Robins, GA; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, March 21 at New Ahoskie Baptist Church by Rev. William D. Tyree III. Burial will be in Pleasant Plains Baptist Church Cemetery.
