WINDSOR – Bertie High School introduces the newest members of the Falcon family who will guide and inspire its student-athletes to achieve excellence both on and off the field.

Ronald Pou is Bertie’s new head football coach. Dee Frazier will take the reigns of the men’s basketball program and also served as the Athletic Director. Jair Cooley has been selected as the head coach of the women’s basketball program.

With seven years of coaching experience and a proven track record of success, Coach Pou brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and dedication to Bertie’s football program. He won a state championship as a player in Williamston and also as a member of the Greenville Rose coaching staff.

“His leadership and commitment to player development will undoubtedly elevate our team to new heights of achievement,” said a Bertie Public Schools spokesperson in a press release.

Coach Pou is a 2nd-year English teacher at Bertie High School.

Coach Frazier has eight years of college coaching experience at the NCAA DI, DII, NAIA and USCAA levels and head coaching experience at Clinton College (South Carolina) during the 2021-22 season. Coach Frazier has guided over 25 student-athletes to athletic honors (All-Conference and All-American).

“Coach Frazier is poised to lead our basketball program with integrity, enthusiasm, and a relentless pursuit of excellence. Under his guidance, we are confident that our basketball team will thrive and showcase the true spirit of Bertie High School,” said the spokesperson.

As Athletic Director, Frazier will oversee all aspects of Bertie High School’s athletic program, ensuring that it aligns with our school’s mission and values.

“His leadership will foster a culture of sportsmanship, teamwork, and achievement within our school community,” as stated in the press release. “Coach Frazier’s vision for Bertie Athletics is to sustain success on and off the athletic fields and courts. His motto is “brick by brick”, which simply means to stack great days. The more great days we help these young men and women stack during their time at Bertie, the more successful they will be once they leave BHS.”

Coach Cooley has four years of experience coaching basketball and football where he brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to his roles, both on and off the field.

He will teaching Entrepreneurship, a CTE class at Bertie High School, sharing his expertise and enthusiasm for business with his students.

Cooley said his coaching philosophy centers on developing a program that promotes excellence, instills discipline, hard work, and teamwork, and leaves a lasting legacy for future generations to build upon and surpass.

“We are excited to welcome Coach Pou, Coach Frazier, and Coach Cooley to our Bertie High School family,” said William Peele, Principal of Bertie High School. “Their expertise, passion, and dedication will undoubtedly have a positive impact on our student-athletes and contribute to the continued success of our athletic program.”
