EURE – Jean Stanley Crawford, 91, formerly of Taylor Mill Road in Eure, NC and more recently of Winston-Salem, died on Thursday, April 11, 2024, in Hospice of the Piedmont in High Point.

Mrs. Crawford was born in Sampson County on December 29, 1932, and was the daughter of the late Lewis M. and Sallie Creel Stanley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in 2018 by her husband of 66 years, The Rev. Gilbert M. Crawford; by sisters, her twin Virginia King, and Evelyn Retos; and by brothers, Leon, and Lester Stanley.

A retired salesclerk from Belk’s Department Stores where she worked for 30 years, she was a homemaker and mother, and later in life after her husband was called to preach, served as a faithful pastor’s wife, supporting him in his visits and ministry as he served as pastor at Holly Springs Baptist Church for 18 years.

Surviving are her children, Deborah C. McWaters (husband, Carl) of Fort Lawn, SC, Pamela C. Bell (husband, Richard) of Venice, FL, and Kenneth G. Crawford (wife, Freda) of Kernersville, NC; 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 15, 2024 at 2 p.m. in Holly Springs Baptist Church in Cofield, and will be conducted by her former pastor, The Rev. Tommy Hayes. The burial will follow at Cool Spring Baptist Church Cemetery in Eure. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 3-4:30 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville.
