CONWAY – Floyd Lindley Jenkins, fondly known as Big Daddy, peacefully passed away on April 1, 2024, at the age of 72. He was born in Ahoskie, North Carolina, on March 20, 1952, a son of the late Godwin Dewey Jenkins and Ima Hodges Jenkins.

Throughout his life, Floyd wore many hats, from working in construction, driving trucks, and serving as a corrections officer. However, his most cherished role was that of being a funeral attendant at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, where he found great fulfillment. Floyd had a wide array of interests, including supporting the NC State Wolfpack, dancing to Beach Music, spending time with his family, and proudly announcing games at Northeast Academy. He was a Godly man that never met a stranger, always up for a friendly conversation. He was well known for his warm bear hugs for everyone. Floyd was always on time for a job because his being on time was an hour early. Floyd Jenkins will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering faith, and infectious spirit. His legacy of love and compassion will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in peace.

Floyd was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Wanda for 54 years. He was a loving father to his daughter, April Liverman and husband Jimmy of Conway; and son, Jonathan Wade Jenkins and wife Logan of Emporia, VA; his seven grandchildren, Ashton Liverman of Murfreesboro, and her significant other Harri Lovett, Anna Woolard and husband Cole of Washington, Allie Liverman of Conway, Wade Jenkins of Conway and significant other Reagan, Wes Jenkins of Garysburg, Owen Jenkins of Aulander, and Emery Jenkins of Emporia, brought immense joy to his life. Floyd is survived by his brothers, Richard “Dickie” Jenkins and wife Mary of Rocky Mount, Robert “Whitey” Jenkins and wife Nancy of Conway, and Andy Jenkins and wife Tammy of Jackson, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Rich Square, NC, and other times at the home of April and Jimmy Liverman in Conway.

A celebration of Floyd’s life will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Rich Square, NC, with Rev Ricky Barnes officiating. Burial will follow at Conway Cemetery, Conway, NC.
