AHOSKIE, NC – Nancy Lowe Outlaw left us for a much better place Thursday, March 21, 2024 at the beautiful age of 102. She was one of 11 children born to the farming family of John Walter and Allie Gertrude Pearce Lowe in Bertie County on December 1, 1921. Nancy, also known as Nanny to her beloved family, and her husband Wayland moved to Ahoskie in 1946. Here they raised their three girls, Carolyn, Judy and Sandra, and their son, Scott.

Nancy spent many years working at the Ahoskie Department Store and at Eastern Office Equipment Co., both on Main Street.

Nancy is well known for her kindness, perseverance, wisdom, and talents. She cooked many yummy nutritious meals and desserts for her crowd, she sewed, quilted, decoupaged, made pottery and could pack a refrigerator, cooler and car like a pro. She loved to read, spend time at church, aqua aerobics, plant flowers in her yard, and travel to exciting places. Above all though, she loved caring for her loved ones.

Nancy is survived by her son, Scott Wood Outlaw (Lisa) of Ahoskie; nine grandchildren; Brian Wood Outlaw (Victoria) of Ahoskie, Blake Outlaw (Abbigail) of Greenville, Mark Mnich (Peggy) of Olathe, KS, Mike Mnich (Kristy) of Bastrop, TX, Matthew Meyers (Liz) of Hampton, GA, Kathryn Paige Outlaw of Ahoskie, Missy Sunderland (Jason) of Bloomington, IN, Jennifer Crisco (Al) of Skyline, AL, and Cindy Hale of Brooks, GA; 17 great grandchildren, Peyton and Waylon Outlaw, Andy, Chad, and Jared Mnich, Colby, and Roper Mnich, Tyler, and Austin Meyers, Courtney Daniels, Jennifer Taylor, Ashton Henry, Jackson Crisco, Branden, Taylor, Drew, and Ethan Duke; and 13 great-great grandchildren. Her passing marks the end of a special era in all their lives.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wayland Wood Outlaw; her daughters, Ruth Carolyn Mnich, Judith Flowers, and Sandra Meyers; and her siblings, Aldred, Theron, Hansel, Charles Freeman, Fred, Raphael, Marjorie, Cynthia, Mary Jane, and Ruth Ellen.
