HARRELLSVILLE – Donald Ray Farmer, age 77, of Harrellsville, NC, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2024, in Greenville, NC. Born on September 16, 1946, in Rocky Mount, NC, Donald was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

Donald dedicated his career to serving as a Retired Job Site Foreman with Commercial Ready-Mix Products. He was known for his hard work and dedication in his profession. Outside of work, Donald had a heart of gold and would go out of his way to help others as long as his health permitted. His greatest joy in life was his family, whom he cherished dearly.

A Vietnam Army Veteran, Donald was a proud member of the American Legion Post 102 in Ahoskie for many years. He was actively involved in the National Turkey Foundation and dedicated over 50 years to the Chinquapin Hunt Club. Additionally, Donald was a longstanding member of the Harrellsville Volunteer Fire Department and played a crucial role in establishing the Rescue Squad in Harrellsville.

Donald is preceded in death by his father, Osie Farmer, Sr.; mother, Margaret Farmer; and brother, Osie Farmer, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Frances Farmer; son, Philip Ray Farmer; granddaughter, Layla Lynn Farmer; sisters, Shirley F. House of Winton, NC, Carol F. Saunders (Todd) of Fuquay Varina, NC; and brother, Jerry L. Farmer (Jan) of Aulander, NC.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service in Ahoskie. A graveside service will take place on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Harrellsville Cemetery, with Rev. Roger Kiker officiating.
