The Bears were able to seal the win from the free throw line in the fourth quarter where they found the mark on 6-of-9 attempts, including a 3-of-4 effort from Garris.

The win advances the top-seeded Bears to Friday night’s tournament championship game against Northeastern in Elizabeth City. The Eagles defeated First Flight, 69-64, in Wednesday’s other semifinal game. Northeastern outscored First Flight 30-12 during the second and third quarters, allowing them to build a 47-31 lead entering the final eight minutes of action. There, First Flight went on an offensive tear, scoring 33 points, but their late rally came up short.

Hertford County and Northeastern split their two games during the regular season, with each team winning on their opponent’s floor.

Friday’s championship game tips off at 7:30 pm.
