LEWISTON-WOODVILLE – Marie “Ann” Kepley Mitchell, 83, passed away peacefully at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loved ones on the morning of February 17, 2024. Ann was born on March 28, 1940 in Colerain, N.C. to the late George Kepley and Annie Saunders Kepley.

Ann lived in Lexington, N.C. until she was in the 7th grade. Her parents then moved Ann and her two sisters to reside in Harrellsville, N.C. Ann graduated from Harrellsville High School. She married the love of her life, Edward Madison “Jimmie” Mitchell, on Dec. 16, 1962 and moved to Lewiston, N.C. Ann and Jimmie had a son, Jimmy Mitchell, and a daughter, Angie Mitchell Jilcott. Ann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend to many.

She was a devoted member of Harrellsville Methodist Church. She loved the Lord so much that she rededicated her life to Christ in November of 2023. Ann was a devoted homemaker who took great pride in keeping an immaculate home. She enjoyed working in the garden and canning her harvest. Ann loved her Belk shopping trips and watching her favorite soap opera Young and the Restless. As Ann got older, her favorite pastime was coloring in adult coloring books. She worked diligently on her artwork completing 133 coloring books through the years. Even though Ann had many hobbies, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and grand fur babies. She cherished her weekend beach trips with her daughter, son-in-law, and two granddaughters. Ann will be greatly missed by family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Jimmie Mitchell; and her brothers-in-law, Floyd Odvil Russell, Larry Mitchell, and Pat Henry.

Ann will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Angie Jilcott (Jimi) of Conway; son, Jimmy Mitchell (Belle) of Lewiston, N.C.; grandchildren, Cody and Josh Mitchell of Lewiston, N.C., Haley and Haven Jilcott of Conway, N.C., Dustin Spivey of Grandy, N.C.; great-grandchildren, Hunter Mitchell of Lewiston, N.C., Seth Spivey of Greenville, N.C., Tristen Spivey of Grandy, N.C.; two sisters, Louise Holloman (Doyle) of Harrellsville, N.C., Kaye Russell of Harrellsville, N.C.; cousin, Reece Saunders Hedrick of Lexington, N.C.; and grand fur babies, Lenox and Oaks.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Garrett Sykes Funeral Service in Ahoskie, N.C. The family will also receive friends at 204 Terrace Lane Conway, N.C.

A celebration of life service will be conducted on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Garrett Sykes Funeral Service-Ahoskie Chapel, 205 NC Highway 42 W, Ahoskie, N.C. with the Reverend Walter Johnston III officiating. Burial will follow in Grace Episcopal Church Cemetery, Lewiston-Woodville.
