AULANDER – Robert Charles Brooks, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2024, at the age of 89. He was born on March 19, 1934, in Camden County, NJ, to the late Charles and Emma Brooks.

Robert led a fulfilling life, dedicating himself to his work and his family. He was the owner/operator of Knit Flex Textiles, where he showcased his exceptional craftsmanship and talent for creating anything with his hands. Robert’s strong work ethic was evident throughout his entire life, as he worked tirelessly to provide for his loved ones.

In his free time, Robert enjoyed playing golf, cherishing moments spent with his family, and being a handyman around the house. His skills and ability to fix anything were admired by all who knew him. Robert’s love for his family was immeasurable, and he cherished every opportunity to spend time with them.

Robert was a faithful member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Ahoskie, NC, where he found solace and community. His unwavering faith guided him throughout his life, providing him with strength and comfort.

He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Brooks; his mother, Emma Brooks; his son, Robert Brooks; his sister, Ethel Vaughan; his sister, Dorothy Bennett; and his brother, Charles Brooks. Robert leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Brenda; his daughter, Darlene (John) O’Shaughnessy of Marietta, GA; his two sons, Scott (Sheila) Brooks of Bentonville, AR, and Charles (Stephanie) Brooks of Colerain, NC. Robert will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Holly Brooks, Michael (Kelley) Rhinehart, Andy (Rebecca) Rhinehart, Brian (Bridgette) Lee of Marietta, GA, Anthony (Michael Benbow) Lee of Austin, TX, Charles Brooks of Colerain, NC, Joseph Brooks, Isabella Brooks of Bentonville, AR, and Cassandra Brooks of Colerain, NC. Additionally, he leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Brice Rhinehart, Stevie Leigh Rhinehart, Charlie Rhinehart, and Oliver Rhinehart of GA, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Job Cemetery in Aulander, NC, with Hugh Davis officiating. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the cemetery.
