Chowan women cage Bulldogs in revenge game

MURFREESBORO – The Chowan women’s basketball team avenged their road loss earlier this season against bitter rival Barton with a 72-56 victory in Conference Carolinas action here Wednesday evening.

Tynasia Bunting paced the Hawks with 21 points, five steals, and two blocks. Sydney Roberts chipped in with 11 points and four assists.

Meara Carter collected nine rebounds to go with seven points. Imani Hickman and Desiree Askew hauled in eight rebounds each.

Chowan led 19-11 at the end of the first quarter and stretched their lead to 37-23 at the intermission.

The Hawks led by as many as 24 in the contest.

Chowan (9-8 overall; 9-4 in the conference; 3-3 in league divisional action) continues their homestand as the Hawks host King on Saturday, Feb. 10. Tip-off inside the Hawks Athletic Center is slated for 2 pm.
