Special thanks for supporting MLK, Jr. Essay Contest

To the Editor:
The Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church (Health and Wellness Ministry) had a successful and productive MLK, Jr. Essay Contest. The special event was held on Monday, January 15, 2024 at Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church (Windsor).
Special thanks go to the (Bertie and Hertford County High School students) who participated in the MLK, Jr. Essay Contest. The students wrote and presented their essays entitled: “What’s in Your Life’s Blueprint.” The essays were based upon Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s speech entitled, “What is Your Life’s Blueprint.”
The awarded students were: Jaiden Mills (1st Place Winner), Anaston Lassiter (2nd Place Winner), Makayla Pugh and Larry Jacobs, Jr. (3rd Place Winners) and Jacob Surgeon (4th Place Winner). Each student received a monetary gift.
Additional special thanks go to the serving judges: Mr. Oliver A. Holley, Human Resources Director (Dare County Schools), Dr. Julius Walker, County Commissioner (Washington Co.), Dr. Murray J. Williams, (Roanoke Chowan Community College President), Rev. Wallace Phillips, (Pastor of Carpenter’s Shop Church, and Judge Teresa R. Freeman, (District 7 Court Judge).
We must send out special thanks to the participants, attendees, parents, teachers, school administrators, family, friends, visiting churches, community-at-large, elected and appointed officials, Media Ministry, MOMBC Family, volunteers, supporters and (God) the leader.
Let us highlight our partners, and sponsors who contributed to the special event:
