Daylan Askew named Conference Carolinas Player Of The Week

GREENVILLE, SC – Conference Carolinas released their Men’s Basketball Players of the Week on Monday afternoon as Daylan Askew of Chowan University was selected for the league’s Player of the Week.

A junior guard from Ahoskie, Askew averaged 30.0 points, 5.0 assists, 4.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 2.0 blocks per game to lead the Hawks to two league wins last week. He shot 90 percent (19-of-21) from the free throw line on the week to go along with shooting 50 percent (17-of-34) from the field.

Askew started off last week with a career-high 33 points against rival Mount Olive. He had a career-high 10 field goals in that game while shooting 55.6 percent from the field and 50 percent (5-of-10) from beyond the arc. Askew posted 18 points in the second half in the contest.

Askew would finish off the week with a 27-point outing against Young Harris. He added seven assists, six rebounds and three blocks in the conference win. Askew would go 11-of-11 from the free throw line in the contest. Once again, he was strong in the second half with 17 points.

Askew is currently third in scoring in Conference Carolinas at 20.1 points per game. He is also third in the league in assists per game at 4.5.
