AULANDER – Evelyn Lee Parker Byrd, age 100, of Early Station Road, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at the Ahoskie House in Ahoskie, NC.

Mrs. Byrd was born on May 20, 1923 to Scarobough Parker and Ruby Bazemore Parker in Bertie County, NC. Evelyn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a dedicated lifetime member of Connaritsa Baptist Church. She loved her church and her church family deeply. Evelyn enjoyed trips to White’s Beach and fishing during her younger years. Spending time with her family and friends was always a top priority. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by, her husband, David A. Byrd; son, David Kenneth Byrd; sisters, Lucille Sylvia, and Edna Earl Whitaker; and brother, Roy Parker.

Evelyn is survived by two sons, Ronnie Byrd and wife Ann of Ahoskie, and Maynard Byrd of Aulander; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Byrd of Aulander; one grandson, Travis Byrd and his wife Chelsie; two granddaughters, Pamala Cale and husband Daniel, and Elaine Vaughan and husband Keith; and three great-grandchildren, Amber Cale, Parker Cale, and Thomas Vaughan.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Aulander Cemetery, Aulander, NC, with Pastor John Masters officiating.
