ROANOKE RAPIDS – Leigh Etheridge, former Ahoskie Town Manager, has been named finance director of the Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District (RRSD) and will begin her new duties January 8.

Thomas Wrenn, CEO of the RRSD, said Etheridge brings over 15 years of proven professional experience managing complex financial systems. She has an extensive accounting, budgeting, and audit background.

In addition to her work in Ahoskie, Etheridge has served in various local government finance, accounting, and management positions throughout her career. She previously served as the finance director for the city of Roanoke Rapids for over six years.

Etheridge resigned Nov. 16, 2023 as Ahoskie’s Town Manager, citing the need to return to her native Roanoke Rapids to assist her mother following the death of Leigh’s father.

Etheridge earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Phoenix.

She also recently completed the Local Government Federal Credit Union Fellows Leadership Program at the UNC Chapel Hill School of Government.

After an extensive search and a very thorough interview process, Etheridge emerged as the best candidate, Wrenn said.

“I’m very excited to announce Ms. Etheridge is joining the Roanoke Rapids Sanitary District,” Wrenn said. “She is a true public servant and her experience in local government finance is exactly what we need in this position. I look forward to her joining our excellent management team and all our high-caliber and skilled district employees.”
