‘Light up the Millpond’ now open on weekends

GATESVILLE – Merchants Millpond State Park will be hosting Light up the Millpond, a drive-through light display coordinated by Gates County Community Events.

Each display is created by members of the community. Civic groups, families, churches, schools, and local businesses participate in the decorations.

The event is held between the hours of 5-8 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays from Nov. 24 through Saturday, Dec. 23. An additional night of viewing will be Thursday, Dec. 21.

This is a drive through event. The holiday displays line the road leading into the Merchants Millpond Visitors Center. There is no admission. Donations to Friends of Merchants Millpond are accepted but not expected.

Volunteers with Gates County Community Events coordinated all the holiday displays. They also noted that the staff at Merchants Millpond State Park has decorated the area at the Visitors Center.
