This tournament is held once every four years in Japan and features the best 200 Kyokushin Karate fighters in the world.

The Championship is fought under the Kyokushin Karate full contact, bareknuckle, knockdown rules and is open weight with no rank divisions. The only way to win a match is by a complete knockout, two knockdowns, or an opponent is unable to continue the match.

The Kyokushin Karate Organization has 12 million members in 148 countries worldwide.

Buffaloe won a special Japan sponsored qualifying tournament in February in Little Tokyo for entry into the Kyokushin Karate World Open Championships. Buffaloe will represent the USA and North Carolina in the event as a top competitor.

A seven time Kyokushin Karate Youth & Teen champion and a two time Adult champion, Buffaloe started competing in Japan sponsored Kyokushin Karate championships. He won his first title in 2008 at age 8.

Buffaloe said he is looking forward to the chance to test himself against the best Kyokushin fighters in the world in November.

This is the premier tournament for Kyokushin Karate full contact fighters. Kyokushin is very different from the other karate and martial arts styles and is a respected style even in the professional fighting community. Many MMA and Kickboxing champions have a Kyokushin Karate background.

Kenny Buffaloe, Christian Buffaloe’s trainer and coach commented, “Christian is training very hard under me for this great opportunity. Only the best Kyokushin Karate fighters in the world ever make it to compete in this elite event. Christian is one of them and he plans to fight to the best of his ability and win the World title. This is a dream of his and the ultimate goal since he first started competing in 2008. We appreciate everyone’s interest and support to make this a reality.”
