EURE – Alice Winborne Felton, 91, formerly of the White Oak community of Gates County, and more recently of Brookdale Assisted Living in Greenville, died Thursday, October 26, 2023.

Mrs. Felton was born in Hertford County on November 22, 1931 and was one of four children born to the late Willie Percy and Alice Earl Byrum Winborne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Armstead Harrell “Frosty” Felton who died in August of 2016 after more than 64 years of marriage; by her sisters, Polly Casper and Dorothy Griffin; and by her brother, Joseph Winborne.

A 1950 graduate of Harrellsville High School, Mrs. Felton had worked at Triple A Grocery in Gatesville and with Tim and Helen Eure in their egg business. Raised in the fellowship of Harrellsville United Methodist Church, after marriage to “Frosty” she joined Eure Christian Church and for many years served as the church’s custodian, for which her fellow members recognized her at retirement for her long and dedicated service.

Surviving is her daughter, Alice Ellen Felton Stokes (husband, Doug) of Ayden; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended members of both the Winborne and Felton families.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 30, 2023 at 11 a.m. in Eure Christian Church and will be conducted by her pastor, The Rev. Wade Bennett. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family in the church social hall immediately following the service.
