MOUNT OLIVE – After surrendering an early goal, the Chowan men’s soccer team clawed their way back to secure a 2-1 victory over rival Mount Olive in Conference Carolinas action here Tuesday evening.

Trailing 1-0 after Mt. Olive scored a goal early in the match, Chowan knotted things up at 1-1 when Abdoulie Sanneh, off an assist from Charley Leech, scored in the 35^th minute.

That stalemate was broken late in the match when Chowan’s Alex Espinoza, off an assist from Bradley Binns, scored the game-winner in the 88^th minute.

Chowan outshot the Trojans, 16-8, with a 7-1 advantage in targets on frame.

The road swing continues for Chowan (3-3-1 overall; 3-1-0 in league play) as the Hawks take on Francis Marion in a Conference Carolinas East Division clash on Tuesday, Oct. 3. First touch is slated for 7 pm in Florence, SC.
