WINTON – Walter T. Scott, 96, the fifth of seven children, was born September 15, 1926, in Winton, NC to the late William H and Arrie E Scott. He departed his life on September 13, 2023 at Summerstone Rehabilitation and Health Center in Kernersville, NC.

Walter retired from the Norfolk Navy Shipyard in Portsmouth after 36 years of service. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Winton.

He is survived by his wife Ruby; children Maurice (Priscilla), of Benton Harbor, MI; Curtis Scott (Roberta) of Winston-Salem, NC; Wilhelmina Pugh (Willie) of Cheltenham, MD; Sandria Scott-Fletcher (Darrell), of Washington, DC; Paulette Scott (Gabriel) of Willingboro, New Jersey; beloved grandchildren Morrice, Keisha, Dawn, Arika, Gabrielle, Devan, Willie II, and Janeen; one great grandson Cairo; a host of nieces, nephews and family friends.

Funeral service will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, September 23, 2023, at First Baptist Church Winton. Interment will follow at the First Baptist Church Cemetery, located on Winton-Cofield Road. In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church Winton. Arrangements are by Hertford County Undertakers.
