HC citizens gain board appointments

WINTON – Several citizens of Hertford County have gained seats on various volunteer boards.

At their regularly scheduled meeting here on Aug. 21, the Hertford County Board of Commissioners unanimously appointed the following individuals:

ABC Board (one vacancy): Roy T. Barnes was reappointed to another three-year term. Also applying for ABC Board were Shelia Vaughan Eley, Jerry E. Dixon, Curtis Freeman, and Tina Edwards.

Jury Commission (one vacancy): Amy Tann was the only person to apply and she was reappointed for a two-year term.

Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission (11 vacancies): Kris Khan, Melvin Dontae Weston, and Reagan Edwards were the only three to apply and each were appointed to a three-year term.

Veterans Advisory Council (six vacancies): Melvin Dontae Weston was the only person to apply and he was appointed to a three-year term.

Voluntary Agricultural District Advisory Board (eight vacancies): Stuart Pierce was reappointed to a three-year term while Shelia Vaughan Eley and Dustin Sumner were both appointed to three-year terms. They were the only ones to apply.

The Hertford County Board of Commissioners periodically appoint county citizens throughout the year to various boards/commissions. An advertisement is published in this newspaper and on the county’s website, advising of vacancies on various boards/commissions and the deadline in which to submit an application.
