AHOSKIE – A planning committee is ironing out the final details of an daylong event on Saturday, Oct. 14 in downtown Ahoskie.

The Town of Ahoskie and The Gathering Place are hosting the 2023 Fall Fling in hopes of attracting quality performers, craft / food vendors, artists, and large numbers of visitors into the heart of Main Street.

“Our last Fall Fling was in 2019 and it was a great success and our town needs a day of family fun,” said Pat Byrd, Director of The Gathering Place, located at the former First Presbyterian Church. “We plan to have plenty of different activities that will be a great place for families and friends to have a wonderful day.”

Among the planned activities on both ends of Main Street include a Fine Arts Show and Sale, car show, street vendors, live music, a comedy show, 5K run, and children’s activities.

The 5K run will officially kick-off the day’s activities at 8:30 a.m. Children’s activities and the Fine Arts Show will begin at 9 a.m.

Starting times have yet to be announced for other activities that day.

The goal of this event is to stimulate economic growth in the town, invite investment opportunities along Main Street – Historic District, and by drawing visitors in to visualize business opportunities, visit the community, and enjoy the hospitality of its people.
