WOODLAND – Mary Eliza Lassiter Vinson, age 97, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family. Mary was born December 28, 1925 to the late Russell Lassiter, Sr. and Obelia Elizabeth Drew Lassiter in Rich Square, NC and was a member of Menola First Baptist Church. She loved her family deeply and cherished every moment spent with them.

Survivors include three sons, Vernon Vinson, Jr., Bradshaw Vinson, Wayne Vinson; five daughters, Maudie Chambers, Blondale Scott, Joyce Vinson-Davis, Dr. Elaine Vinson, and Elois Duncan; one sister, Georgia Lawrence.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Vinson, Sr.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Menola First Baptist Church, Woodland, NC with Pastor Johnnie Speller officiating. Interment will follow in the Vinson Memorial Gardens, Woodland, NC.

A viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at Wilder’s Funeral Home in Rich Square, NC. Wilder’s Funeral Home Inc. of Rich Square is in charge of the arrangements.
