Inaugural Riverfest slated June 17 in Windsor

WINDSOR – Roanoke/Cashie River Center, Bertie Chamber of Commerce, and Bertie County Arts Council announce the first-ever Windsor Riverfest, a celebration of Northeastern North Carolina’s natural beauty, culture, and people. The festival will take place from 12 noon until 8 p.m. on June 17 at the Roanoke/Cashie River Center, located at 112 West Water Street, Windsor.

The Windsor Riverfest was created to showcase the unique features of the region while welcoming visitors to discover it for themselves. The festival will offer an amazing lineup of activities and attractions that are sure to delight attendees of all ages and interests.

Food lovers will be delighted with the selection of food trucks on-site, featuring Lime and the Corn, Y’all Eat Yet, and more! For those interested in the arts, there will be a variety of vendors displaying and selling their work.

Attendees can enjoy live music with local bands and performers providing a live soundtrack to the day’s festivities, including a Bluegrass Jam at the riverside amphitheater.

If you’re looking to explore the waterways that make this region so special, the Windsor Riverfest has you covered with free boat rides along the Cashie River on the Roanoke/Cashie River Center’s pontoon boat or on the North Carolina State Park’s Big Canoes that hold 14 people each.

The festival’s outdoor section is a must-see for those interested in environmental education and conservation. Local museums and nonprofits will offer interactive exhibits and activities to teach attendees about the natural resources that make the region so unique. Workshops for people of all skill levels will also be provided from 12 noon until 4 p.m. in the River Center’s classroom space, covering topics like beekeeping, scientific illustrations, and more!

To top it off, the festival will feature a farmers’ market where local farmers and artisans will be on hand to offer a wide range of fresh produce, crafts, and other goods.
