AHOSKIE – Gunshots rang out here last night (Thursday) and early Friday morning resulting in property damage at two homes.
Ahoskie Police Chief Jimmy Asbell said no one was injured.
Asbell said the first call came in at 10:15 pm in the 700 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
The second call was at 2:41 am this morning (Friday) where a home in the 500 block of North Catherine Street was hit by gunfire.
“We don’t know at this time whether or not the two shootings are connected,” Asbell told the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald. “We don’t believe these are random acts of violence.
Asbell added that the Ahoskie Police are working these cases and enlist the help of the public. Those with information on either shooting (or both) are encouraged to contact the Ahoskie Police Department at 252-332-5011.
These latest shootings are on the heels of an incident on April 20 where a 13-year-old child was struck by bullets while inside his home on Roberts Street.
Asbell said that teen remains hospitalized in critical condition.
There are no suspects in that shooting.
