AULANDER, NC – Lennie Byrum Williams, age 85, of Main Street, Aulander, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the ECU Health Roanoke Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.
A native of Bertie County, Lennie was born on January 11, 1937 to George “Buck” Linwood Byrum and Maggie Byrum in Windsor, NC. Lennie married the love of her life, Linwood Calvin “Kakie” Williams and was married 48 years when he passed away. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and GG.
She was a member of Connaritsa Baptist Church and later attended The Church at the Crossroads. She loved the Lord and spent a great deal of her time telling people about Jesus. She was a hard worker and spent her life farming and working with Golden Peanut Company in quality control.
Lennie cherished her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her sisters, better known as her “Tutors”. She truly loved to go fishing, and liked to grow flowers, definitely having a green thumb. She was a very artistic and creative person throughout her lifetime who loved to make crafts, sew, and decorate cakes. Lennie was loved by many and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Along with her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, George Williams; daughter-in-law, Darlene Williams; a great grandchild, Maggie; and two sisters, Shirley Grizzard, and Jeanette Vandiford.
Left to cherish Lennie’s memory are two daughters, Claudia Baker (Tim), and Susie Williams, and special friend, David; two sons, Thomas Williams, and Steve Williams (Tammy); 12 grandchildren, Thom Williams (Shannon), Shana Gibson (Adam), Blake Lassiter (Sandy), Jonathan Williams (Crystal), Abby Baker, Katie Dilday (Joey), Aaron Williams, Stephanie Vargas (John), Noah Williams, Amanda Hill (Alex), Kailey Lassiter, and David Williams; 18 great grandchildren, Kayden, Selena, Mason, Brayden, Nate, Miley, Gracie, Jackson, Owen, Luke, Rhys, Levi, Silas, Rhett, Terra, Morgan, Scarlett, and Paisley; a sister, Peggy White; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
The family will receive friends at Connaritsa Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am with a celebration of life memorial service beginning at 11:00 am at the church, with Pastor Mark Warren officiating.
