PERRY, GA – Bennie Jean Britt, 89, left this world to join her beloved husband, Claude Harold Britt, Jr., in heaven above on October 20, 2022. Bennie Jean passed away peacefully at Summerhill Senior Living Community in Perry, Georgia.

Bennie Jean was born on July 28, 1933 in Milwaukee, North Carolina, to the late Uriah and Molly (Britt) Martin. She married the love of her life, Claude Harold Britt, Jr., on November 16, 1949. The poem they treasured for each other was “Just Nothing”.

“Just Nothing” by Anonymous

“I really have nothing to give you

It simply weighs nothing at all.

For balanced ‘gainst gold or diamonds

I’m sure that the scales would fall.

What is more, you can’t even see it,

And to touch it would be a task great,

And as for its value in money,

It cost not a whole penny weight,

But gladly and freely I give it,

With a heart pure as heaven above,

‘Tis the best thing that I have to offer,

My darling, here is my love.”

The wife of a farmer and mother of five, Bennie Jean devoted her love and her life to her family. She was an active member in her community, often preparing meals and visiting members of both Conway Baptist Church and Milwaukee Methodist Church in North Carolina.

Bennie Jean was preceded in death by her husband and by three sons, William Harold Britt, Darrell Steven Britt, Sr, and Keith Franklin Britt, Sr.

Bennie Jean is survived by her daughter, Claudine Britt (Matthew) Poe of Colington, North Carolina; two sons, Bennie (Pam) Britt and Garry (Anne) Britt of Warner Robins, Georgia; two daughters-in-law, Dee Britt (Tim) Bailey of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Deborah Britt of Isle of Palms, South Carolina; twelve grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
