UPDATED INFO: The original story contained information about the Aulander Harvest Festival on Saturday, Oct. 8. That event is the following Saturday (Oct. 15) from 12 noon until 4 p.m. at the John Asa Drew Field of Dreams (Aulander Ballpark).

If you are looking to get out and enjoy what promises to be a beautiful, early fall weekend, then there are several local events to choose from.

In Ahoskie on Saturday, the Gallery Theatre will open its 2022-23 season in a big way with several events scheduled.

There will be a bake sale and thrift shop from 12 noon until 6 p.m. in the main lobby of the historic theatre. The thrift shop will feature collectibles, home items, and possible treasures. There will also be an old-fashioned lemonade stand, and face paining for the kids.

At 6 p.m. that evening, the doors open as the Gallery Theatre presents its first-ever Improv Challenge. This unique community-based event will witness comic teams competing for cash and prizes with random topics and props to work with.

Tickets ($15 per person) are available online at gallerytheatreahoskie.com/ or at the door.

Also on Saturday is the Windsor Mural Kickoff Event, slated for 5:30-7:30 p.m. at 122 East Granville Street. There you can meet the mural artists, Andrew and Sarah McWilson from Hand in Hand Creative.

Be a part of the inspiration for Bertie County’s new mural and participate in the parachute game.
