AHOSKIE – Troy Lee Parker, Jr., age 73, passed away at his home on July 23, 2022.

Mr. Parker was born in Nash County, NC on September 24, 1948, a son of the late Troy Lee, Sr. and Vauda Hoggard Parker. During his lifetime, Troy worked with the NCDOT, CF Industries, and farmed before retiring from the NC Dept of Corrections. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed many hours of hunting, fishing, and helping neighbors on their farms over the years; but his greatest joy was found in helping others throughout his community. In his earlier years, Troy was a volunteer with the St. John Fire Department. Later, he would continue to serve the fire department and St. John Baptist Church by spending hours cooking and preparing plates for the annual BBQ chicken fundraisers. After retirement, he spent many days taking care of the needs of his elderly neighbors, helping them with household chores, yard work, or taking them to their appointments. Troy also enjoyed watching sports and old westerns, traveling with his wife, Judi, spending time with his pets, raising a garden, and attending numerous extracurricular activities that his grandchildren were involved in. Troy was a good-hearted man and will be missed by all who knew him.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Wayne, and Leslie Parker.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Judith Edwards Parker; daughters, Hope Eure and husband, Andy of Williamston, NC and Lori Smith and husband, Ricky of Ahoskie, NC; and his three grandchildren, Stephen Eure, Meredith Eure and Gage Smith. Also surviving are his brothers, Bailey Parker of Kelford, NC and Sterling Parker of Kill Devil Hills, NC, along with several beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at 10 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall of St. John Baptist Church, with a celebration of life service to follow at 11 a.m. in the church with Rev. Doug Van Niel, and Charles Edwards, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made directly to St. John Baptist Church, 1650 NC Hwy 461, Ahoskie, NC, 27910 or to St. John Volunteer Fire Department, 1127 Highway 561, Aulander, NC, 27805 or you may donate online by visiting www.tmcfunding.com/serch; then type Troy Parker.
