To the Editor:
Some people may agree, and some may not.
There’s an old saying that “Police Officers do not do their jobs” in the towns which they serve. For me, I disagree with that opinion.
A special “thank-you” goes out to Rich Square Police Chief William Smith along with Police Officers Wallace Whitley and Joseph Comeaux. That special thanks also goes out to Jeff Long and the staff of the Maintenance Department; and to our Mayor of Rich Square, Mr. Reginald White.
They all were there and ready to help when my husband, Commissioner Joyner, and I were in need of assistance on June 6.
While traveling outside of Rich Square, we had a serious problem with a flat tire and we were in need of assistance. I saw all the people I mentioned above working together as a team. They made sure we were safe and okay before leaving us. I just wanted to express my opinion to all involved in helping us in our time of need.
These individuals went above and beyond to get the job done and they did so while also showing compassion and patience.
We are living in a time where there is so much going on in the world around us that all seems negative. But I want everyone to know there are still some positive things going on. However, there are many times that we don’t get a chance to see or hear about all the good things. There is good, we just have to look for it, be aware of it when it happens, and then say “thank you” for it.
From my personal experience for what happened on June 6, I thank all those involved in helping us and pray for them all as they continue to work to keep Rich Square safe.
