Bertie School Board filing opens June 13

WINDSOR – Candidates seeking seats on the non-partisan Bertie County Board of Education can begin filing at 12 noon on Monday, June 13.

There are three seats on the school board up for grabs during the Nov. 8 General Election. Those seats represent District 2, District 3, and District 4 and are currently held by Rickey Freeman, Christine Dudley, and Norman Cherry respectively.

School Board terms are for four years.

The filing fee is $30. The filing fee may be paid with an individual check or money order, payable to the Bertie County Board of Elections. Business or corporate checks are not accepted.

Filing will also begin on June 13 for two seats on the Bertie County Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors. Those are also four-year terms. The filing fee is $5.

Notices of Candidacy, together with the proper filing fee, must be in the possession of the Bertie County Board of Elections by the deadline to be accepted. Filing ends at 12 noon on Friday, July 1.
