AULANDER – Luther “Gooney” Wesley Blowe, Jr., age 77, of NC Hwy 561, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at The Outer Banks Hospital of Nags Head, NC

Mr. Blowe was born on May 15, 1944 to the late Luther Wesley Blowe, Sr. and Antoinette Blowe Blowe in Hertford County. Luther worked as a salesman for most of his life. He was also an employee of the Hertford County School system for many years. He enjoyed spending his spare time fishing. He was loved by his family and friends and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Gooney is survived by his companion, Melba; his daughter, Vickie Blowe Hoggard of Kill Devil Hills, NC; grandson, Cliff Hoggard and wife Stephanie of Kill Devil Hills; granddaughter, Jamie Bird of Poplar Branch, NC; three great-granddaughters, Peyton Hoggard, Trinity Forrester, and Riley Krull; two sisters, Shirley Waters of Powellsville, and Ann Moore of Aulander; two brothers, Dwight Blowe of Woodland, and Jerry Blowe and wife Kathy of Winton; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service on Friday, April 22, 2022, from 1-1:45 p.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, with a celebration of life memorial service at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC with the Rev. Dr. J Brabban officiating.
