EURE – Kenneth Karl Coats, age 44, passed away on March 12, 2022 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, VA.

Mr. Coats was born in Bertie County on May 10, 1977, a son of Rufus Dexter and Carol Richmond Coats. Kenneth worked as a Machinist for GeoQuip Manufacturing Company in Chesapeake. He was a man who loved listening to music, building things with Legos, building models, watching cartoons, and tinkering with cars, which he loved, especially Mustangs. Kenneth loved capturing the beauty and splendor of things through photography. He was very tech savvy and, being a computer nerd himself, loved anything nerdy. Kenny was a family man and loved his children and grandchildren, and often took in children and treated them as his own.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sarah Newmons Coats; his parents, Dexter and Carol Coats; two daughters, Caitlyn Hewitt and husband, Zachary of Colerain, NC, and Angel Grace Baker of Ahoskie, NC; two sons, Austin Michael Coats of Ahoskie, NC, Gavin Michael Artino and wife, Bailey of Ahoskie, NC; a grandson, Watson Hewitt; a granddaughter, Makayla Artino; his brothers, Marcus (Amanda) Coats of CA; and Joseph Allen Coats of New Mexico.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at 6 p.m. at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. David Walther, officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the home of Kenny’s parents, Dexter and Carol Coats, 310 Willoughby Rd., Ahoskie, NC, for a time of fellowship and remembrance.
