COLERAIN – Robert “Bobby” Joseph Myers, 80, of Meadow Road, died Monday, January 31, 2022, at Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie. He was born in Bertie County, May 14, 1941 to the late Lakemon Joseph and Margaret Louise Mitchell Myers and predeceased by a brother, Wilbur “Will” Myers. Bobby was a member of Askewville Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher (40+ Years), and chairman of the ushers committee. He was a member of the Baptist Men’s Association and the North Carolina Workhorse and Mule Association. He was a logger by profession and an avid horseman.

A graveside funeral service will be Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie. Rev. Zach Hicks and Rev. Freddie Harris will officiate.

Survivors include his wife, Paige Copeland Myers of the home; daughters, Betsy M. Vaughan and husband Bill of Ahoskie, Susan Rhea Doughtie and husband Jay of Aulander; son, Robert Joseph “ R.J.” Myers, II and wife Melanie of Ahoskie; grandchildren, Rodger and Lucas Doughtie, R. J. “Treyce”  Myers III, Lakemon and Grant Myers; step grandchildren, Bill Vaughan (Jenny), Julie Davidson (Jason); step great grandchildren, Bill Vaughan III, Katie Vaughan, Taylor Davidson and Hayden Davidson.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 1, 2022, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, Windsor, and from the home at other times. Memorial gifts may be made to the Baptist Children’s Home of NC, PO Box 388, Thomasville, NC or to Askewville Baptist Church, 110 E. Askewville St., Windsor, NC 27983.
