SEVERN – Atwood Reginald Long, age 87, of NC Highway 35, passed away on Monday, November 15, 2021 at his home.

Mr. Long was born on April 17, 1934 to Reginald Long and Frances Fleetwood Long in Northampton County, NC. Atwood spent his life tending the land, and nothing he loved more than to be in his ford tractor farming. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time in the field, hunting and fishing when he was younger, being at the beach, and taking off in his motor home to travel the roads. Atwood cherished his family and loved them dearly, especially his loving wife, Nell. He was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed by them.

Along with his parents, Atwood was preceded in death by his loving wife, Nell Carolyn Long.

Atwood is survived by his sister, Jessie Mae Matthews and husband Cam of Graham, NC; nephew, Steve Allen and wife Sherry of Pendleton, NC; two sisters-in-law, Millie Martin of Milwaukee, NC, and Virginia Flythe of Conway, NC; brother-in-law, Sidney Allen, Sr. of Conway, NC; great niece, Candi Horton of Conway, NC; and great nephew, Hunter Allen of Pendleton, NC.

The family will receive friends on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 10-10:45 a.m. at Roberts Chapel Baptist Church, Pendleton, NC. A celebration of life service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Michael Currin, officiating. Burial will follow at Severn Cemetery.
