MURFREESBORO – Lorene Bennett Paul died peacefully on Thursday October 14, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Brinson Paul; daughter, Barbara Beasley (Roger) of the Seattle area; son, David Paul (Janice) of the Dallas area; sister, Shirley Vinson of Portsmouth, Virginia; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and dozens of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Frank Bennett; her mother, Minnie Bennett; four brothers, Franklin “Buck”, William, Henry, and C.D. Bennett; five sisters, Frances Council, Beulah Hunter, Louise Askew, Annie Maude Donald, and Viola Meade.
Lorene enjoyed being a wife, mother, Sunday School teacher, and Christian, as well as doing crafts. She worked in her early marriage at the Texas Company in Norfolk, as a church secretary in Greenville, and with the North Carolina Department of State in Raleigh. When she became a mother, she became a wonderful homemaker for her family.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at the Garrett-Sykes Murfreesboro Chapel from 6-8 p.m., and other times at the home.
A celebration of life funeral service will be Monday, October 18, 2021 at 2 p.m. at the Murfreesboro Baptist Church (mask required), followed by interment at Meherrin Baptist Church Cemetery (the church of her youth).
